5 Top Tips to Whip Your Website into Shape
Here are the 5 top tips to whip your website into shape which we wrote for the December 2008 bestofworthing newsletter. We were asked to write these top tips after winning “Most Exceptional Customer Service in Worthing” recently.
Follow these top tips for a better website:
1. Professionally Written Copy
Don’t ruin a great site with poorly written wording – use a professional copywriter or for a cheaper Option ask at least five friends to check what you have done and make suggestions for improvement.
2. A Content Management System
An essential for all sites – an easy to use ‘what you see is what you get’ web based editor to allow you to update your website yourself
3. Great Images
If your images are looking a bit dusty and frayed around the edges, whether they’re of you, your products, your premises or a mixture of everything, then invest in a professional photographer – or for the cheaper option use stock photos – such as ones from www.istockphoto.com
4. Get Blogging
If a lot has been happening within your business recently, whether you’ve launched new products and services, taken on new people or you’ve simply got more to shout about, then adding new pages could be a wise move. Your website needs to keep pace with your business. A blog is simply a more casual news area. It’s also great for improving your search engine positions
5. Data Collection
Collect visitors e-mail addresses and names. Why wave goodbye to visitors when you can invite them to leave their details behind so that you can keep in touch with offers and positive messages about your business?
